The Commercial Music Institute (CMI)
was founded by Kim Craft, M.M., J.D., entertainment attorney and former
director of the Music Business Program at DePaul University’s School of
Music. CMI strives to bring relevant, real-world
business and legal knowledge to the commercial music community, promote
ethical business practices, foster relationships, and prepare students for
careers in the music and entertainment industry. CMI also strives for excellence by
responding to its students’ professional, career, continuing, and personal
needs through relevant course offerings and industry-professional instructors
who are degreed in the areas of music, law, and business. CMI pledges to support its courses and
programs with print, electronic, and multimedia resources, as well as student advising services. CMI affirms its commitment to provide
